Le Petit Voilier and CAPENÉ are joining forces to sustainably strengthen learning and childcare services for young Acadian and Francophone children.
Thanks to an investment of $2.8 million over three years from the Government of Canada through the Action Plan for Official Languages 2023–2028, a large-scale pilot project is now underway.
The goal: to offer francophone children and families stronger, more accessible, and better-supported childcare services.
What this means in practice:
-
More support for early childhood educators;
-
Centre directors relieved of administrative burdens;
-
Better conditions to recruit and retain francophone staff;
-
More childcare spaces;
-
Stronger inclusive services, including in rural communities.
By pooling administrative resources and management expertise, Le Petit Voilier allows centres to focus on what matters most: supporting children in a high-quality French-speaking environment.
The La P’tite Académie and Papillons et Pissenlits centres are the first to benefit from this innovative model, which could later be expanded across the entire network. This project represents an important step toward ensuring the future of Acadian and francophone early childhood services in Nova Scotia.
