Recognition of your international diploma takes place in two stages:
1. Your diploma will be evaluated by an independent body. We recommend WES (https://www.wes.org/).
2. Evaluation by the Nova Scotia Childcare Staff Classification (https://www.ednet.ns.ca/earlyyears/pd/ClassificationforStaff.shtml)Services
The evaluation criteria are available here (https://www.ednet.ns.ca/earlyyears/documents/pd/policy_classification_levels_and_competency_requirements_fr.pdf). As part of our international recruitment, we are recruiting Level 2 and Level 3 educators.
Yes, provided you enroll in a qualifying course.
You will need to:
• You must follow the Early Childhood Education and Care Orientation Program (https://www.ednet.ns.ca/earlyyears/pd/OrientationforStaff.shtml?tab=1#TabbedPanels1) in order to obtain the entry-level classification, within 6 months of being hired.
• Complete the courses (https://www.etudescollegiales.ca/programmes/education/formation-pour-la-classification-de-niveau-i-ministere-de-leducation-et-du-developpement-de-la-petite-enfance)to obtain level 1 classification within two years of hiring.
It is also possible to then continue towards a college diploma in early childhood education to obtain level 2 classification.
All courses are offered online, in French, and asynchronously, allowing you to balance work, studies and personal life.
The orientation program is offered free of charge. Scholarships are regularly available for Level 1 and Level 2 courses.
For all employees:
• Employee Assistance Program
• 6% paid leave from the first year (approximately 15 days for a full year worked)
For all employees (except casual employees):
• Up to 12 days of sick/personal leave per year
• Public holidays are days off with pay.
• Defined benefit pension plan (5% employee/5% employer)
For employees with a contract of at least 12 months and working a minimum of 14 hours per week:
• Group insurance (employee share: 50% of long-term disability costs and 35% of costs for the rest of the benefits plan)
